Detachment

Until July 2010 this train ran as attached with 16593/94 Nanded Express up to Guntakal from Bangalore where the detachment took place. As proposed in the 2010 budget the train was detached and started its run as an independent train in August 2010.

Relevance

Train is named after Hampi, a Historical Town belonging to the Vijayanagar Empire. The Town is a tourist attraction for the ruins of the Vijayanagar Empire. This train passes through Hospet the nearest station to this Town.

This train generally gets a WDP-4 or WDP-4B from Krishnarajapuram

This train runs Via Bangalore Canttonement, Yelahanka, Hindupur, Dharmavaram, Guntakal, Bellary, Hospet to reach Hubli.
